Blue Square Energy has developed a proprietary high-performance thin-film crystalline silicon solar cell technology called Bright Point. Bright Point solar cells combine a low-cost, boron-rich silicon substrate with a high-performance thin-film silicon active layer to deliver a product that matches the high performance and reliability of traditional crystalline silicon solar cells at a fraction of the cost. To achieve high efficiencies, a high-purity thin layer of silicon (less than 20 microns) is deposited on the substrate through a proprietary manufacturing process. Blue Square Energy is fast-tracking commercialization of the Bright Point technology with market introduction anticipated for the second quarter of 2008.
